A number of my followers are lucky enough to live in places where it is warm or mild in the winters. You really need to experience winter in Edmonton. We get -30 and snow!! Nothing stops or shuts and life just goes on as normal. No "snow days" here!! What are those anyways? We have been really spoiled this year as it is has been very mild and so unusual. What are we in store for the spring and summer!!!
I was born in Edmonton and I have lived here my entire life. Let's just say 40 plus years!! LOL! I really am misplaced. My father was from the fabulous state of Kentucky and although I have never lived there I really feel like I have a southern heart. For several reasons, I am stuck in Edmonton for awhile. I would love to live in Las Vegas or Phoenix or maybe Florida. I am worried that Florida may fall off!! LOL! Anywhere that is safe and warm and I would to be there.
The economy really sucks in the good old Excited States right now and for many other personal responsibilities I am going to have to stay here. May the warm weather force stay with me!!
After all that I do have a creation for my Smash Book. If you have been following, I was total angainst buying one and ended up with TWO! Only stampers and scrapbookers can realte to this.
We don't do a lot of "events"! There is my wonderful, calming and stabilizing better half, Arthur, and I take care of my Mom who is 86. I do work outside the home but I recently was off for just over one year. I am back working 3 day weeks and 10 hour shifts.
My Smash book is going to be about stuff that we do. I am not going to share all of my pages in there as a few are just too personal but when I do add one that I can share I will post it.
Indoor golf in January in Edmonton! This is pretty cool as you can play dozens of actual courses from around the world. You are still hitting a screen but it looks pretty real and you still have to be able to hit the stupid little ball properly!!
It was a quick round as three of us played for one hour. I was hitting way too often. One of my goals this year to shave off MANY strokes from the score. Say a prayer and send me a pro!!
Long post but here is a photo of a page I made with a golf theme and colored with Distress Inks. I usually use Copics but I just wanted to try the Distress painting. Seem like a lot of the European girls go with this media.
Tilda was colored on watercolor paper and stamped with VersaFine ink in Onyx Black. I then colored Tilda as follows:
Face and hands - Antique Linen and Tattered Rose
Cheeks - Victoria Velvet
Hair - Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy
Shirt and shoes - Weathered Wood and Stormy Sky
Pants and the club head - Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain
Club shaft - Black Soot
The title was done with stencils and I just outlined them with pencil and then colored in with pencil crayons. The stencil is from Wordsworth and the pencils are Prismacolor in True Blue and Peascock Blue.
Here is one for you that is a closeup.
I have only done the Distress Ink coloring a few times and this one is a little darker thank what I wanted but I am really happy with the shadows and shading.
I would love to hear from anyone that does Distress Ink coloring and I really want to know what you think. Be honest otherwise I won't improve.
I look forward to reading the comments!!

Sweet Blossom Journal Page
Hi everyone! Here is a new page of my Smash Book. I seriously was not going to buy into these books. For lots of different reasons I thought I could I just make my own. Sigh...To make a long story short I DID buy one; okay, I really gave in and I bought TWO!!
I didn't like the inside page that started the book and I had just finished coloring this Sweet Blossom stamp from Whimsy Stamps so I thought I get creative with a background page and use this one.
Here is a close up of the coloring.
I used Copics as follows;
Dress - RV 00, 10, 21, 23
Face - E 50, 000, 21; R 30
Flowers - V 12, 15, 17
Leaves - YG 11, 13, 21
Socks - B 63, 66; RV 00, 000
Bear inner ear, paw pads and nose - R 30
Branch - E 34, 35
Bear - E 31, 33, 43, 41
Hair - E 42, 41, 40, 55 and light umber pencil by Prismacolor
The background is Clearsnap Pigment Inks in Lavender, Plum Berry and Violet and the stamps used on the background panel are from La Blanche, Stampington and Frog Whiskers Ink; the phrase is a Stampin' Up stamp.
I would love to hear what you think of this one.

Titanic Nut
Okay, I admit it! I have watched the "Titanic" movie over and over and over. I am absolutely fascinated by everything to do with Titanic. My better half and I recently went to the Titanic exhibit and movie at the Telus Science Center here at home in Edmonton and we spent the whole day looking at all of the artifacts that have been discovered and brought up from the site of the sinking. I have created a scrapbook page to remeber our great day.
I had a stamp of the Titanic that I purchased a long time ago at Viva Las Vegas Stamps in Las Vegas (go figure)! I also used the Wrought Iron Scroll stamp from Stampington, C8473.
I stamp smooshed the background using the scroll stamp and Distress Inks in Antique Linen, Weathered Wood, Iced Spruce and Victorian Velvet. I had a package of stone compasses that I bought eons ago so they were just perfect. The boarding passes on the right are in a pocket so we can see who we became as passengers! I spritzed the flowers with Clearsnap Spritz. The tag piece has the same colors but also quite a bit of the Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The letters were cut with my Cricut and the George cartridge. One more photo for you.
I am going to enter this one at Let's Ink It Up where the challenge is anything goes. If you would like any other details just let me know.

Celebrate Life
As the challenge at Simply Magnolia this time is "Celebrate", I decided to use a "celebrate life" theme. I thought about this one for quite awhile and as it is a new year with new hopes, wishes, dreams and aspirations I thought the subject of celebrating life appropriate.
Here's a close up of the coloring.
Waiting Tilda has been colored with the following Copic colors:
Dress - YG17, 13, 11
Socks/pinafore/sleeve lace - E43, 42, 41, 40
Shoes - W0, 1, 3
Hair - E25, 55, 31, 30
Skin - E21, 00, 50 and R30
As always, I would love to hear what you think of this one and wish me luck on the Simply Magnolia Challenge.

Here's a new creation! This stamp is from Stampavie and although it's not new with them, I had never colored this one before. Thinking of Valentine's Day and a couple of the challenges that I like have as their theme "New", I decided that this adorable image needed inking.
Here's a close up of the coloring, done with Copics of course.
Colors that I used are:
Leaves and stems: G20, 21, 24, 28, 40
Grass: YG 67, 63; G20
Flowers: V17, 15, 12
Boy mouse: E35, 33, 31 and E93 on his ears
Girl mouse: W0, 1, 3 and E93 on her ears
Boy main outfit: B02, 01, 000
Boy vest: B16, 12
Girl clothes: Y38, 35, 32, 24
