Fell In Love

Here is another fabulous 2 page layout from the very talented Kathleen Sundby and Treasured Memories.  These pages are so very striking and I love putting them together.  Kathleen out does herself each and every month and this one was no exception.

I have one more photo of how the two pages fit together at the center seam perfectly.

Love, love, love the romantic feel as well as the sewing inspired items on this page.  Once again, I would love to know what you think of this one.

Red, White and Blue

I am so lucky to live in Canada!  We are so very fortunate with our life styles.  I am also very proud to have had an American father and therefore have dual citizenship with the very exciting good old U.S.A!

The challenge over at Totally Tilda is red, white and blue so I just thought of America and all its glory.  This card came about from those thoughts.

I have had a number of issues when coloring with the red Copics but this one turned out great.  I am really happy with the the way the reds blended and they didn't bleed on me.  Here is a list of supplies that I used.

Papers were Bazzill and from stash; the lace and ribbon were also from the stash; flowers are Magnolia and Prima; the die cuts are made using the Nestabilities Dies and Copics that I used are:

Dress - R24, 29, 39
Wings and dot background - B000, 00, 04, 21, 23, 24, 26, 29
More of the dots - BG000, 0000, 10
Ground - C1, 3, 00
Hair - E29, 25, 31
Skin - E21, 00, 000, 0000

Here is a close-up of the coloring.

One more photo for you of the insert.

I am entering this one in a couple of challenges and they are:
Just Magnolia - Anything Goes with the option of lace http://justmagnolia.blogspot.com/
Totally Tilda- Red, White and Blue http://totallytilda.blogspot.com/
Make My Monday - Red flowers http://mimchallegeblog.blogspot.com/
TOMIC - Birthday http://officialmagnoliainspirationchallenge.blogspot.com/

I would love to hear what you think of this one and if you want any other details, just let me know.

Copics to Look Like Distress

I have wanted to try this technique for awhile and the challenge at Copic Creations is to color with your Copics to look like Distress Inks.  On the Copic Creations site which is at
http://copiccreations.wordpress.com/ you can check out the videos that are done by Suzanne Dean to learn how to achieve this kind of look with your coloring.  I am quite happy with the way this came out and I am going to enter this one at Copic Creations and also at Just Magnolia.  Their challenge is to use lace in your creation.  Check them out at http://justmagnolia.blogspot.com/.  Both sites have tons of inspiration and techniques to learn.

My pictures are kind of blurry so I apologize for that but you can still see the details.  Here is a close up of the coloring.  Suzanne adds a little bit of W3 and W1 to accent the distress look and I also did this but I think I got a little too much.  It was my first attempt so hopefully will improve!

I have one more for you that is the inside of the card.

All of the stamps are from Magnolia, the papers are from the stash and I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to add color to the edges.  I would love to hear what you think of this one!  If you like any other details just let me know.

Absolutely Stunning

Here is another Cathie Allan scrapbook page.  This one was a "project in waiting" so decided to get it done.  I wish you could see the sparkle on the embossing as it is just well...sparkly!  It was an irridescent kaleidoscope powder and I am wondering why I don't use this one more often.

Cathie did another bang up job on this article and the instructions are so easy to follow.  It ran in Canadian Scrapbooker.  Thank you Cathie!

The photos are from the flowers in my yard.  I would love to hear what you think of this one!  If you would like any of the details just let me know.

Good News and Bad News

I want to say how sorry I am to see the end of the Let's Ink It Up web site and challenges.  To the dearest Suzanne, best wishes for a speedy recovery!  You will be missed.

I hate to be excited when I am sad about Suzanne, but there is going to be a new challenge called, "The Official Magnolia Inspiration Challenge".  From now on it will be referred to as "TOMIC".  This will start on Monday, June 6, 2011 so check it out for some ideas.  I just know that this one will be awesome and I am looking forward to it.  Click on the blinkie on my page to find out what all the excitement is about.

Blessings to Suzanne!

My Only Heart

Hi to all!  I had a lot of fun making this card.  I have wanted to try the Tim Holtz techniques for awhile but I never knew  what I wanted to make.  The challenge at Studio L3 got me thinking hard and I came up with this project.  When I was putting it all together I realized that it wasn't anything like what I had planned, but I am really happy with the way it came out.

The heart piece uses a Shabby Chic paint technique and you can check out the Tim Holtz site and his blog for information on how he does this.  A great many of his techniques are in his book called, "A Compendium of Curiosities".  It is well worth checking out if like the grungy style.  His site is http://www.timholtz.com/.  Check out all of the cool projects and challenges at Studio L3 also.

I have used the Pitch Black paint as well as Espresso, Gold and Copper.  This really was a cool technique.  Actually I am quite surprised that mine worked out so well.  WOO HOO!

I am entering it into the Grungy Monday Challenge at Studio L3.  I am so glad that I found this site last week.  How did I miss this one?  Wish me luck and let me know what think of my creation.
